    The Swim Patrol provides enriched training for those who are ready to go beyond learn-to-swim. Swim Patrol's three levels - Rookie, Ranger, and Star - continue to develop participants' swim strokes and provide the skill foundation that prepares them for success in the Society's Bronze medal awards.

    Bronze Star Medal

    Prerequisite: 11-13 years of age

    Recommended for anyone who is interested in later Bronze courses, this leadership course introduces swimmers to the basics of safe and responsible aquatic rescues. This level is an excellent preparatory level for Bronze Medallion and is a prerequisite if the swimmer is under the age of 13.

    Bronze Medallion Medal

    Prerequisite: 13+ years of age OR have completed Bronze Star

    This course incorporates the four components of water rescue: judgement; knowledge; skill; and fitness. Participants learn how to deal with Emergency First Aid situations both in and out of the water. Successful completion of the in-water examination and written test is required to receive this certification.

    NLS Patch

    Prerequisite: Must be 16+ by NLS Exam Date

    Bronze Cross & Standard First Aid

    This course is required for employment as a lifeguard in Canada. It prepares participants for a variety of situations encountered in aquatic environments and beyond.

    Ages 9+

    Learn the importance of responsibility and respect while being accountable for yourself and how to stay safe at home and within the community. Participants learn the importance of setting and following rules around safety when staying on their own, including basic First Aid!
