Children & Youth

     The Recreation and Athletics department focuses on children's programming that nourishes a love for play and encourages staying active. Our programs are led by certified coaches and, with a focus on gross motor and program specific skills, we ensure that play and skill-building go hand-in-hand.     Sundays and Wednesdays
    (Ages 3-5) 9:30 – 11:30 am

    Jump on bouncy castles, climb through tunnels, shoot some mini-hoops! Our ever-popular Jungle Gym gives young ones a place to run around in a safe, indoor, unstructured play space.

    A high energy, fun, age-appropriate introduction to soccer, with a focus on character development and confidence-building. Taught by expert coach T'ai Simm-Smith. (Ages 3-8)

    Jr. Jungle Gym offers our youngest children a safe space to move around in, explore, and play in an unstructured way! It features brand new equipment and is an extension of our ever-popular Jungle Gym, but specifically for ages 0-3.

    Parents and caregivers can have a direct hand in a preschooler’s development through our range of Multi-Sport programs. Sportball Junior and Parent & Tot and Multi-sport programs teach children important introductory physical skills and help them develop confidence in their abilities.

    This extension of Youth Karate is a perfect introduction to Karate that fosters a challenging and safe, non-violent environment while building the strength and confidence to avoid conflict.

    This 45-minute program is a perfect introduction to Sportball. Children and parents participate in sports, creative games, songs, rhymes, stories, bubble time and much more. Although these programs focus more on exploration, children will be introduced to a different sport each week. Parents are encouraged to participate with their child and challenge them according to their skill level.

    This course offers a balance of challenge and fun in a safe, non-violent environment. The main goal of the program is to provide children and youth with the strength and confidence to avoid conflict. While still including the physical training, this course seeks to develop skills that can be translated into everyday life: the ability to stand up for oneself; discipline and focus; having the confidence to present in front of a group; and self-awareness. In addition to the karate training, once per session a guest artist who specializes in a health and wellness topic or another form of martial arts will be invited to teach an introductory class in their field.

    Mega Hoops is an inclusive children's basketball program in collaboration with the Ontario Basketball Association. OBA-certified instructors will teach physical literacy, fundamental movement and basketball skills in a supportive environment, guided by Canadian Sport for Life principles. Kids will also try Wheelchair-basketball with the Wheelchair Sports Association.
