General Responsibilities of Board Members
The Board of Directors provides strategic leadership, governance, establishes policy, oversees the operations and financial performance of the MNjcc and assesses the Board's own effectiveness. Participation on the Board is voluntary and there is no remuneration for service. Please contact us for detailed information on the roles and responsibilities for Board members.
Be an active member of the MNjcc
Attend board and committee meetings, training sessions, and special meetings as appropriate
Ensure that the MNjcc is operated in a prudent and sound financial manner according to general accounting principals
Ensure that the activities of the MNjcc fall within its mission
Demonstrate enthusiasm about the MNjcc and conviction about its purpose
Stay informed and aware of events on the Board and MNjcc, asking questions and/or requesting information when needed
Give fully and enthusiastically of time, money, and expertise
Serve on and at times chair Board committees
Accept special assignments
Adhere to established processes of the board and standards of the MNjcc
Maintain confidentiality of issues raised before the board and information provided as a board member
Accept and support democratically made decisions of the board
Demonstrate respect and decency to fellow board members and MNjcc staff
Support the MNjcc financially to the best capacity of each individual
Solicit funds and open doors to new sources of revenue
Expected Commitment from Board Members
Serve for a minimum of three (3) years with eligibility for re-election at the AGM
Attend 6-7 Board meetings that take place each year: one in conjunction with the AGM
Able to commit the time and resources to serve on the Board and at least one Board committee, and represent the MNjcc as requested
Make an annual financial commitment to the MNjcc, as well as our two major funders, United Way and UJA Federation

Founded in 1953, The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre (MNjcc) is a dynamic hub providing a wide range of educational, cultural, fitness, social, and recreational programming to Toronto's culturally, ethnically, and economically diverse population. Each year the MNjcc provides more than 70,000 people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities with opportunities to learn, be active, and connect. The MNjcc is open to all and is committed to being a community leader in accessibility and inclusion, promoting diversity, and removing barriers

• All applicants must complete this application to be considered for the position.
• All applications and résumé / CV's will be reviewed by the Nominations Committee to be selected for
an interview.
• The Nominations Committee will then make recommendations for each open board position to the
Board. The Board will meet and review the recommendations and then motion for selection.
