About this Role

Primary Duties and Responsibilities


Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise and mentor Development team members, including the Development Coordinator, Manager of Partnership Development and Associate Director of Development.

  • Foster a culture of philanthropy and contribute to a collaborative organizational culture.

  • Develop and execute annual fundraising plans aligned with organizational strategy.


Major Gifts & Donor Strategy

  • Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects with giving capacity of $25,000+.

  • Collaborate with the CDMO to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and philanthropic partners.

  • Create compelling cases for support, customized proposals, and stewardship strategies.


Legacy & Planned Giving

  • Lead the launch and management of a Legacy Giving program.

  • Educate and engage donors around planned giving options.

  • Steward existing and prospective legacy donors.


Data & CRM Strategy

  • Lead CRM strategy and implementation in collaboration with the Business Systems team.

  • Ensure data integrity and generate fundraising performance reports for executive and board leadership.


Strategic Partnerships & Community Engagement

  • Support the cultivation of corporate, community, and institutional partnerships.

  • Represent the MNjcc at key events in the Jewish, arts, and cultural communities.

  • Identify fundraising opportunities in collaboration with programming and leadership teams.


Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in fundraising, including team leadership.

  • Demonstrated success in securing and stewarding major gifts.

  • Understanding and cultural competency with Jewish communities and traditions.

  • Proficiency in CRM systems (preferably Raiser’s Edge) and data-informed fundraising.

  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.

  • Experience with legacy giving and donor engagement strategies.

  • Strategic and collaborative thinker with the ability to work across departments.


Salary and Benefits

  • Annual salary range: $105,000 - $120,000 commensurate with experience.

Position Summary
The Director of Development plays a key leadership role in advancing the philanthropic and strategic partnership efforts of the MNjcc. Reporting to the CDMO, the Director is responsible for developing and executing strategies for individual and major giving, partnerships, legacy giving, and stewardship. This role also oversees day-to-day operations of the Development team, contributing to the MNjcc’s financial sustainability and long-term growth through donor engagement and data-driven decision-making.

Reports To: Chief Development & Marketing Officer (CDMO)
Location: In-office minimum 4 days/week, Toronto, ON
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
