Schedule:
Centre hours of operation: 7:30 am - 5:30 pm Monday – Friday
Working hours total 37.5 hours per week and the schedule be confirmed during the interview process (staff must be flexible).
Attend staff meetings and professional development outside of centre hours as needed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to work as a cooperative team member, maintaining an ongoing positive relationship with childcare, parents, and staff, working collaboratively with all.
Work collaboratively with room partners to observe, implement, and document the children’s learning through daily programming based on children's needs and interests.
Able to take initiative; apply sound reasoning in solving problems and resolve conflict in a calm,
professional manner.
Have the physical and emotional stamina to supervise children in a variety of settings including p
ublic spaces and large spaces such as the gymnasium, during transitions taking place inside and outside of the classroom, the swimming pool, understanding that our program is based in a large community centre.
Assess the abilities, interests, and individual needs of the children and be able to discuss their progress with parents and other staff.
Assist in providing a physically safe and emotionally supportive environment showing sensitivity to the needs of children in all areas of development: instill confidence, encourage creativity and cognitive skills, and master social skills.
Ensure the implementation of daily routines (meals, naps, diapering/toileting, transitions, playground and gym time, during programming time, etc.) is conducted effectively.
Ability to be punctual, flexible, responsible, approachable and dependable.
Ensure classroom documents are up-to-date (cleaning logs, attendances, etc.)
Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Have experience/able to work with children 18 months-12 years old.
Must be able to legally work in Canada in a childcare setting.
Proficient in the English language with speaking, reading and writing, and the ability to relay relevant and timely information and feedback to parents, staff, and children with confidence.
Must have a clear vulnerable sector screening (done within 6 months of start date with us).
Must have valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C.
Up-to-date medical including Tuberculosis test and immunization history.
Knowledge of ELECT and How Does Learning Happen? is an asset.
Preference will be given to those with previous experience with inquiry/play based program
design and implementation, and with the use of pedagogical documentation.
Able to provide references.

Salary and Benefits:
ECA starting wage from $17.20/hour (plus PWEG when eligible) depending on qualifications and experience.
RECE wage at $23.86 per hour including all grants and funding.
All staff receive Provincial Wage Enhancement Grant when eligible.
RECE must be a current member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.

Description
Working within the Preschool program, the Early Childhood Assistant or RECE will work with other educators to observe children and implement a stimulating program for the children, while engaging in open communication with parents and other stakeholders. We are seeking a dynamic RECE or ECA who is looking to join a great team of educators in our preschool room at a wonderful community centre.
