30 hours a week
Tuesday- Friday, 8-hour shift scheduled between 8:00 am – 5:30 pm
Contract will run from December 27th, 2023- January 5th , 2024
Primary Duties and responsibilities
To develop and implement a camp program at an age and developmentally-appropriate level for preschoolers.
Ensure attendance is correctly completed each day with absent children clearly noted.
To ensure the safety of all children in attendance at Winter JCamp.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for children at all times.
Ensure High Touch Cleaning Log is completed daily.
Communicate with the Supervisor regarding any areas of concern regarding the health and safety of children as well as concerns with specific children.
Supervise children during daily outdoor and gym times.
Getting to know each child individually to instill confidence, encourage creativity and cognitive skills, and master social skills.
Early Childhood Educators will be required to change children when their diapers or clothes are wet or soiled. Gloves will be provided for this.
Early Childhood Educators will read and agree to all policies as set out by the Supervisor and Ministry of Social Services.
Early Childhood Educator will be required to assist the children with lunch and snack routines.
Assist the children with nap/rest routines.
Approach members and families in a friendly manner where they feel comfortable.
Must be capable of working collaboratively with others to ensure that proper programming and care are given to all children.
Show enthusiasm for all facets of camp life.
Bona Fide Occupational Requirements
Valid Standard First Aid CPR-C
Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check issued within the past 6 months
Up-to-datete immunization record (Tetanus and TB screening)
Must be recognized as an RECE and currently registered with the CECE
Expectations
Staff will wear camp uniform every day and keep them in a condition that best reflects the MNjcc
Qualifications
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working with children
Ability to work as a team
Must be able to work as a team
Must be able to communicate easily with families
Must have an outgoing personality and work well with children.
Strong interpersonal skills – must be able to work with a diverse group with differing needs and different backgrounds.
Must be able to prioritize with a busy workload/high-volume environment.
Resilience – must be able to work under pressure
Ability to legally work in Canada/Ontario/for the MNjcc
Physical Requirements
Early Childhood Educator will be required to lift children if necessary
Set up and put away cots for rest time
Other furniture and equipment movement as required

Description
The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre is seeking an experienced RECE teacher for its winter JCamp program. Preference will be given to RECE teachers with previous experience in Play-Based Learning and/or a Child Directed Learning program. Be a part of this dynamic program where you will have the opportunity to grow with the children. Primary responsibilities include observing children, implementing a stimulating program for the children, and open communication with parents.
