Welcome to the MNjcc

The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre (MNjcc) has welcomed over two million people to the corner of Bloor and Spadina during the building’s 60+ year history. The changing makeup of our membership is a testament not only to the vibrancy and diversity of the Annex neighbourhood but to Toronto’s own evolution. We provide opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to be active, learn, connect and participate in a wide range of cultural experiences. Rooted in Jewish values, the MNjcc is open to all.

MISSION: The MNjcc strives to be an inclusive and welcoming hub for healthy and joyful community, anchored in Jewish values, where all downtown Toronto feel they belong.

The MNjcc is home to a 3800+ member state-of-the-art Fitness Centre, the 285 seat Al Green Theatre, four schools, three choirs, a wide range of arts and cultural activities, Jewish Life programming, and a robust adult cultural program. It is a founding member of the Bloor Street Cultural Corridor, and the lead organizer of the annual Annex Family Festival.

In 1953 we moved from Brunswick Avenue to this intersection and in 2004 we reopened a brand new centre, thanks to the support of the community through UJA Federation's Tomorrow Campaign and a lead gift from Miles Nadal. Through the years we have not only offered a home to the Jewish community, but to immigrants and artists, young families and seniors. In fact, throughout our history, our membership has been about 50% Jewish - reflecting our wide and diverse population.

The vital role of a community centre is more important today than ever. The MNjcc offers a complete range of recreational, educational, and arts and cultural programs so that our neighbourhood can come together and connect.  It isn’t just about what you receive at a centre like the Miles Nadal JCC, but about what you take with you when you leave and what you give back. We are proud of the role the MNjcc has played in creating city leaders, building lifelong friendships and offering a foundation for families – a place where families can grow, where they can connect, where, in fact, they belong.

"I am excited to have recently taken the reins as Board President of the MNjcc. I have spent much of the last 30+ years at or near Bloor & Spadina, having attended the University of Toronto for seven years and more recently while my three children became fixtures in the building during their pre-school years on the first floor, and during their primary school years at Paul Penna DJDS. In fact, two of my kids were even swimming instructors at the MNjcc; this neighbourhood and this community centre, feel like home to me.

The MNjcc is truly where we all belong. There is so much available to you (as you will see within the pages of this Program Guide) that you may not know where to start! Perhaps you’re looking for a top-notch space to exercise or swim, a Sunday afternoon film, a preschool for your kids, or to learn to speak Hebrew or Yiddish? Whatever your needs, you can bet that once you start your MNjcc journey, it will very soon feel like home to you as well".
