Israeli Testimony is a curated selection from Local Testimony, Israel’s annual photojournalism and documentary exhibition capturing pivotal moments in Israeli society. This year’s exhibition invites us to witness life in Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza over the dramatic events of last year: the return of the hostages, ongoing violence, and political upheaval. These photographs capture moments of celebration, mourning, resilience, and humanity.
Presented in partnership by the Miles Nadal JCC, the New Israel Fund of Canada, and Local Testimony.

What does it mean to belong?

You Belong Here: An Interactive Exhibition invites visitors to explore this question through a dynamic, participatory experience that reflects the diversity of Toronto. Presented by the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre in partnership with Museum of Toronto, this immersive exhibition transforms the gallery into a space for reflection, creativity, and shared storytelling.

Rather than simply viewing, visitors are encouraged to take part. Through a series of interactive activities—writing, weaving, mapping, voting, and letter-making—participants are invited to share their own experiences of identity, community, and connection. Each contribution becomes part of a growing, collective portrait of belonging, shaped by the voices of those who pass through the space.

As the exhibition evolves, it reveals the many ways people build and experience belonging: through relationships, cultural ties, personal histories, and everyday actions. Visitors can return again and again to discover new perspectives, new stories, and new connections—each visit offering a different experience as the exhibition continues to grow.

You Belong Here: An Interactive Exhibition was conceptualized and developed by Museum of Toronto and elsonstudio, in collaboration with the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre. The exhibition is supported by the Canadian Race Relations Foundation, funded by the Government of Canada. The Museum of Toronto is made possible through the generous support of Diane Blake and Stephen Smith.
