Q: I used to be a member before the pandemic. Do I still need to purchase a membership?
A: Yes. Unless we have reached out to you directly, you need to purchase a new monthly membership before visiting the J.
Q: Do I still need to book a time slot to swim, use the gym, or take an exercise class?
A: Yes, for the time being. To ensure physical distancing measures are maintained, you will still need to book time slots in order to use the fitness centre or pool. You will also still need to register for group exercise/aquafit classes, but they are included in your membership.
Q: Do I need to be vaccinated to enter the building? And do I need to wear a mask while working out?
A: Yes. Proof of full vaccination is required for anyone (ages 12+) to access the MNjcc premises. You are required to show your second dose vaccine receipt (paper/digital) as well as a piece of government-issued identification. You may visit www.mnjcc.org/vaccine to read our vaccine policy and frequently asked questions. Given the improvement and general reopening in the province, masks are still be required throughout the fitness centre except when working out on a piece of equipment. In group exercise classes, you may take off your mask only once you are in your designated 'square'. Members can choose to be more cautious and wear a mask but for those who don’t want to - that is fine also; many of our older-aged members cannot exert themselves with masks for fear of fainting. We need to slowly and cautiously start opening up to the broader community, of course, guided by the appropriate metrics of COVID 19. Fortunately, with all of our protocols, we are mitigating risk extremely well. We need to trust that our community is being respectful and honest when doing the self-reporting screen. We follow distancing; we enforce masking while not on a piece of equipment or in a group ex square, and we have verified that our ventilation systems exceed recommendations. The community spread is currently quite low as reflected by our positivity rate < 2%, R factor <1 and a well-immunized community.
Q: I had belongings in the locker I was renting? Can I still get my stuff?
A: To ensure a safe, clean space, we asked all locker-holders to empty the contents of their lockers by September 26. All unclaimed locker belongings after that date were donated to The Scott Mission (decent shoes/clothes), The Toronto Humane Society (towels) or disposed of. At this time there is no overnight locker service until further notice.
