inclusive jewish community

We ‘do Jewish’ differently at the MNjcc. With more than 135 programs annually welcoming over 6,000 participants, we are the Jewish hub downtown - a pluralistic, non-religious ‘town hall’ for Jewish life. We strive to enable our community to find belonging and explore their identities in an open, low-barrier-to-access, non-judgmental space. Adapting to the changing nature of the community drives our programming.  Jewish life at the MNjcc is everything from holiday celebrations to educational opportunities, and from arts and cultural exploration to Jewish identity programs.  We welcome LGBTQ+, patrilineal, Ashkenazi, Sephardi & Mizrachi Jews; Jews of Colour; Jews with disabilities; multifaith, multicultural, multiethnic, and Jewish& individuals, couples and families as well as friends and allies. We even have a massive network of connected Israeli families.  Regardless of how you identify, you are welcome here, you belong here and we encourage you to join us!

We strive to be the heart of Toronto’s LGBTQ+ Jewish community, providing queer Jews opportunities to gather, celebrate and thrive. We aim for the full inclusion and celebration of LGBTQ+ Jews across Jewish life, arts and cultural initiatives, informal and formal education and more.

You don't need to quantify or qualify your Jewishness; we welcome you and everything you bring to the table at Jewish& - a program that explicitly gathers multi-faith, multi-cultural, multi-ethnic folks and families for Jewish exploration, education and celebration.

We love to welcome young families into the fold, whether you're interested in Jewish programming or not ... or both! Maybe Shabbat Song Circle is your Friday thing and Jungle Gym is your weekend jam.  We aim to delight, regardless!

The Jewish holiday calendar is not something we skim over! From meaningful High Holiday programming to joyful Chanukah activities, to our signature Tikkun Leil Shavuot: All Night Jewish Learning Festival, we have got you covered!

The Israeli Connection brings together ex-pat Israelis to connect, navigate, network, and tap into a wide variety of programming and resources (in both Hebrew and English) geared to newcomers, temporary residents, and permanent residents, alike.

Lishma: Jewish Learning Project brings together a community of learners in their 20s and 30s who are excited to share their desire for greater Jewish engagement, are willing to ask questions about our tradition, and want to explore how it informs our lives today.

As the coordinating agency of the Downtown Jewish Community Council (DJCC), the MNjcc brings together over 45 downtown Jewish schools, youth groups, prayer communities and congregations, social service agencies, and cultural and recreational programs that serve you year-round.
