After School Program Staff

Part-Time Position • 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Monday - Friday (flexible)  •  September to June

 

If you love working with children then this job is for you. We are often looking for committed, reliable people, with friendly and positive attitudes.  The MNjcc After School Program provides age-appropriate, stimulating and safe activities for school-age children.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of the children in the program

  • Escort children from neighbourhood schools to the Miles Nadal JCC

  • Create and deliver age-appropriate programming, taking into account varying levels and abilities of children in the program

  • Come prepared for the day’s activities

  • Provide assistance to fellow staff as needed

  • Supervise children in the program indoors and outdoors; actively engaging with them

  • Assist in conducting surveys for periodic program evaluation

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  •  2-5 years’ experience working with children

  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Clear vulnerable sector screening (in the 6 months prior to hiring)

  • Up to date Immunization Record (Tetanus, TB screening)

  • Have sufficient computer knowledge in Word and Excel to maintain records

  • Knowledge and compliance of health regulations

  • Ability to communicate comfortably with parents and other staff

We're Hiring Summer Camp Staff!

Monday - Friday   •  June 28 - August 20

 

We need great people who love to work with great kids! 

 

Spend your summer engaging children and implementing fun and stimulating programs! We are looking for committed, reliable people, with friendly and positive attitudes. Camp runs from June 28th – August 20th and staff must commit to working all eight weeks. 

 

Staff will need to be available for pre-camp training on June 21-25; 4-8 hours/day. 

Shifts will be scheduled between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise and organize children in attendance during indoor activities, field trips, outdoor play and gym times. 

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for children at all times 

  • Additional administrative tasks, organizational tasks, providing assistance to the Manager of Camps and other duties as assigned. 

  • To participate in staff meetings, program committees and other agency committees related to the department. 

  • Swimming with the children daily. 

  • Addressing parental concerns and coordinating discussions with multiple levels of staff within the agency to address new or ongoing issues. 

  • Getting to know each child individually to instill confidence, encourage creativity and cognitive skills, master social skills 

  • Approach members and families in a friendly manner so they feel welcome. 

  • Staff will adhere to the “Privacy Act” and not relay any personal information of families to others. 

  • Assist the children with nap/rest time routines 

  • Assist the children with lunch and snack routines 

  • Assist the children with the bathroom if needed. 

 

DURING PERIOD WHERE COVID-19 POLICIES ARE IN EFFECT: 

  • Staff will be equipped with masks, visors, gloves and a smock to ensure the health and safety of the staff. 

  • Staff may be designated to stay with ill children in an isolation room until parents or caregivers come for their child.

  • Staff will disinfect any surfaces touched by a child in an isolation room immediately after the child leaves

  • Staff will disinfect bathroom surfaces (sink and toilet) after it has been used by a child 

  • Staff schedules will fluctuate during this period. Regular work hours may not apply. 

Qualifications and Requirements:  

  • Staff must also have a minimum of two years of experience working with children.  

  • Must have a valid First Aid/CPR Certification 

  • Must agree to a  vulnerable sector police reference check 

  • Ability to work as part of a team 

  • Up to date immunization record (tetanus, TB Screening) 

  • Must have an outgoing personality and work well with children 

  • Able to communicate comfortably with parents 

 

Salary: 

$15/hour

Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECA) Float

Part-Time Position • 3 hours / day

Monday - Friday  •  June 21, 2021 - June 21, 2022

The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre is seeking an experienced Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) FLOAT for its program. Preference will be given to ECAs with previous experience in Play-Based Learning and/or a Child Directed Learning program. Be a part of this dynamic school where you will have the opportunity to grow with the children. Primary responsibilities include implementing a stimulating program for the children, on-going supervision of children and tending to their physical and emotional needs. The role reports to the Director of Early Childhood Education.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of the children in the program

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for children at all times

  • Communicate with the Director regarding any areas of concern regarding health and safety of children as well as concerns with specific children

  • Supervise children during daily outdoor and gym times

  • Getting to know each child individually to instill confidence, encourage creativity and cognitive skills, master social skills

  • Staff will be required to change children when their diapers or clothes are wet or soiled. Gloves will be provided for this.

  • Staff will be certified in First Aid and this will be renewed every 2 years.

  • Staff must be certified in the Food Handler/Server course given by Public Health

  • Staff will read and agree to all school policies as set out by the Director and Ministry of Education

  • Do daily playground inspection and record results

  • Do daily health inspection of children

  • Staff will be required to assist the children with lunch and snack routines

  • Assist the children with nap/rest time routines

 

Interactions with Parents:

  • Staff will speak to the Supervisor first before speaking with the parents regarding any areas of concern.

  • Staff will adhere to the “Privacy Act” and not relay any personal information of families to others.

  • Staff will understand the importance of school issues remaining within the privacy of the school.

DURING PERIOD WHERE COVID19 POLICIES ARE IN EFFECT:

  • Other furniture and equipment movement as required

 

Salary and Benefits:

  • $15.00 plus Provincial Wage Enhancement Grant when eligible

  • Free gym membership
