As an employee of the Miles Nadal JCC, Lifeguards will be reporting to the Aquatics Manager and Lesson Coordinators. Lifeguards are responsible for safety, supervision, and first aid response at the Freddie Shore Aquatic Centre at the Miles Nadal JCC.

Lifeguards

As an employee of the Miles Nadal JCC, the Swim Instructor will be reporting to the Aquatics Manager and Lesson Coordinators. Swim Instructors are responsible for providing high-quality swimming lessons to participants of all ages and abilities.  Swim Instructors must be comfortable teaching both group and private lessons and all levels of the Red Cross Swim Program.  They will conduct swimming lessons in a safe and enjoyable environment demonstrating good class control and safety supervision.

Customer service is our top priority and Swim instructors will play an important role in helping swimmers achieve their goals through education in an inclusive and accessible environment.

Swim Instructors

Working in the Early Childhood Education department, the After School Program Staff is responsible for program planning and facilitating an engaging and safe program for children aged 4-12. The program operates daily between the hours of 3-6 pm.

Changes due to Covid-19 Pandemic:

  • Staff may be designated to stay with ill children in isolation room until parents or caregivers come for their child. Staff will be equipped with masks, visors, gloves and a smock to ensure the health and safety of the staff.

Schedule:

After School Program Staff

The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre is seeking an experienced RECE teacher for its After School Program. Preference will be given to RECE teachers with previous experience in Play-Based Learning and/or a Child Directed Learning program. Be a part of this dynamic school where you will have the opportunity to grow with the children. Primary responsibilities include observing children and implementing a stimulating program for the children and open communication with parents.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Program Director, Fitness & Wellness, the Fitness Floor Staff are responsible for managing the safe operation and maintenance of the fitness floor.  The Fitness Floor Staff will perform welcome workout orientations and assessments, sell personal training packages, conduct one-on-one member onboarding sessions, answer questions and offer assistance to members.

  • Conducting tours, consultations and orientations according to MNjcc protocols.

  • Maintaining a safe, organized and well-stocked fitness floor by re-racking weights, organizing small equipment, picking up towels or trash, refilling sanitizing wipe containers, and noting any needs of equipment repair.   

  • Completing administrative duties in a timely manner, (e.g., attendance, incident/accident reports,

  • Responding to and/or assisting with on-site emergencies, incidents and accidents, which may involve the provision of Standard First Aid, CPR, the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and/or the completion of an accident/incident report, when required.

  • Attending training, workshops, meetings and seminars as required.

  • Understands and adheres to, and enforces MNjcc Policies and Procedures for all staff.

Fitness Floor Staff
Part time

As an employee of the Miles Nadal JCC, the Group Fitness Instructor will be reporting to the Program Manager, Member Experience, Fitness & Wellness. The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for providing high quality, motivating group fitness training.  The Group Fitness Instructor will develop and deliver high quality, motivating fitness class programming for members, and will play a customer service role in helping the members of the MNjcc achieve their fitness goals through education and training in a fitness centre setting.

Do you have a passion for helping people achieve their health and fitness goals? We are looking for positive, motivated individuals with an education and practical background in personal training. Under the supervision of the Director of Fitness and Wellness, MNjcc Personal Trainers perform orientations and fitness assessments, sell personal training packages, and conduct one-on-one training sessions.

Schedule:

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote the MNjcc personal training program through orientations, tours and fitness floor shifts

  • Contact interested members within 24 hours of receiving a lead.

  • Maintain a client base by selling new packages, and encouraging current clients to continue.

  • Assist in development and implementation of new programs and classes.

  • Develop safe and effective exercise programs utilizing all principles of personal training.

  • Train clients on safe and proper excercise technique

  • Maintain up-to-date client records and accountability for tracking pending client appointments.

Personal Trainers

We are currently looking to expand our supply staff list. We are seeking a dynamic RECE or ECA who is looking to join a great team of educators in our Toddler, Preschool, JK and School Age programs at a wonderful community centre. Supply staff will cover our regular staff absences or provide additional support to our classrooms. This position may lead to full-time hours if required based on the needs of our programs.

Supply Teacher > Early Childhood Education

The Membership Associate is responsible for supporting the Coordinator of Membership Sales and Retention and Manager of Membership Sales and Retention in maintaining a clean, friendly, safe and professional fitness centre while achieving all personal sales targets.

  • The Membership Associate position requires on-site presence. As such, PPE will be provided and must be worn throughout entirety of shift. Lishma Jewish Learning Project launched in November 2018 as a community of learners in their 20's and 30's who share a desire for greater Jewish engagement, are willing to ask questions of our tradition, and want to explore how it informs our lives today.  It is a program shared in a partnership between Annex Shul, Beth Tzedec Congregation, UJA Genesis, the Miles Nadal JCC and Holy Blossom Temple.

 

Overview:

The Lishma Communications Coordinator is a key contributor to the Lishma team. Their focus is on social media and marketing; participant recruitment and liaison; and administration.

 

The contract is for 10 months beginning in November (flexible start date) with flexible hours depending on time of year and demands. The Coordinator works remotely, and will join team meetings and reports to Yacov Fruchter, Director of Community Building and Spiritual Engagements at Beth Tzedec.

Responsibilities:​​

  • Develop and execute promotional calendar and marketing/social media strategy

  • Manage Lishma website

  • Manage social media including FB and Instagram accounts

  • Participant communication

  • Information management

  • Participant recruitment

  • Bring new ideas and strategies to increase awareness of Lishma and reach new audiences

Competencies:

The ideal candidate will bring the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experience with social media management

  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage short and long term goals and tasks

Lishma Communications Coordinator
Part-time
Starting November 2022

A member of the Al Green Theatre team, the technician is responsible for the overall technical set and execution of events. The Technician’s primary function is to work with the event organizer on the day-of the event to assist with meeting lighting, sound and video requirements for each event. In addition the Technician liaises with theatre clients and front of house staff to ensure the smooth execution of events, and uphold theatre policy and procedure.

The Al Green Theatre is a fast-paced, professional and collaborative work environment which hosts a wide range of arts and community events from film screenings, to concerts, panel discussions and theatrical and dance presentations.

Changes due to Covid-19 Pandemic:

  • Required PPE will be provided, and policies around using/wearing PPE must be followed (Personal Protective Equipment).

Schedule:

  • Working hours vary as they are based on the theatre bookings calendar – staffing schedules are determined on a monthly basis.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:​​​

  • To be present in the theatre, when scheduled by the technical director, and to supervise the correct operation of the theatre’s technical equipment and the safety of all personnel working in the theatre during load-ins, load-outs, rehearsals and public presentations.

  • To operate video, lighting and/or sound equipment during events or to supervise their operation by other technical staff on the call.

  • To open and prepare the theatre before the arrival of theatre users and to ensure that all theatre entrances are locked following all performances, screenings, rehearsals, load-in and strike calls.

  • To uphold Al Green Theatre policies in a firm, but polite manner.

  • To liaise with event organizers and other Al Green Theatre staff to ensure the smooth operation of events, rehearsals, set-ups and strikes in the theatre.

  • To work technical maintenance calls as requested by the Technical Director.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Technical experience (lighting, sound, head technician) in a theatre, performing arts centre, or community centre environment

  • Experience with live sound (set-up, mixing, troubleshooting) required

Working with the Associate Director, Families at the J, you will vision, develop and produce programs or events that animate the broader Jewish LGBTQ+ downtown community in connecting to community and Judaism.

  • This position is work from home, with opportunities to utilize the MNjcc building to support events.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:​​​​

The Fitness Manager will provide leadership to a team of floor coaches/personal trainers in the area of customer service, member relations, and personal training sales. This role will ensure excellent quality and operation of the fitness floor and ensure that the JCC meets or exceeds all financial goals through personalized prescription while educating members and clients in all components of fitness.

Schedule:​​​

  • Salaried, 30-hours-per-week of office/admin and floor related duties. Plus up to 14 additional hours of personal training at a rate of $42/hour.

  • The Fitness Manager will act as Fitness Manager On Duty up to two shifts per week, weekends and statutory holidays on a rotational basis with other managers.

The Manager of Membership Sales and Retention is responsible for overseeing the Membership Sales and Retention Team and the execution of the MNjcc’s membership sales and retention strategies. This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), parental leave 11-month position.

The Assistant Program Support Facilitator will work closely with the Senior Program Coordinator and Program Support Facilitator to facilitate accessible community programming, to provide participant support during our programs for young adults with disabilities, and to assist in designing the Wagner Green Centre for Access & Inclusion’s outreach strategy. This role will be highly collaborative and teamwork-focused; most job duties will be focused around our popular Fun Intensive and Everyday Friends social and learning programs.

Changes due to Covid-19 Pandemic:

  • This role will be mostly remote. Weekly in-person, on-site events either at the MNJCC or outdoors.

  • Applicants should be fully vaccinated with up-to-date booster, and should be able to be masked while facilitating in-person programming.

Schedule:​​

The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre is seeking volunteers for its After School Program.

Schedule:

After School Program runs from September to June and volunteers should commit on a weekly basis.
Shifts will be scheduled between the hours of 3:00pm to 6:00 pm, Monday-Friday

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the safety of all children in attendance

  • Assist ASP Staff with delivering all activities

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for children at all times

  • Communicate with the teachers regarding any areas of concern regarding safety of the children

  • Assist with the supervision of children during outdoor and gym times.

  • Assist teachers with children’s snack routine

  • Assist the children with nap/rest time routines
