We are currently looking to expand our supply staff list. We are seeking a dynamic ECA who is looking to join a great team of educators in our Toddler, Preschool, JK and School Age programs at a wonderful community centre.Supply staff will cover our regular staff absences or provide additional support for our classrooms. This position may lead to full-time hours if required based on the needs of our programs.

Schedule:
- Early Childhood Assistant will be hired as an on-call supply staff.
- Must be flexible to work between 7:30-6:00 when required.
- Attendance at afterhours staff meetings strongly recommended (to be paid).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- ECA supply will take on the role of the staff they are replacing, ECA or RECE.
- Supervise and provide a daily balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities that incorporates child-directed activities and learning, positive and supportive routines and transition times.
- Use a variety of teaching techniques including modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating and redirecting that is age and developmentally appropriate.
- Provide a welcoming environment that helps the children build confidence, encourages creativity, sharing, cooperation, respect for others and independence.
- Creates an environment that supports and respects a variety of diverse cultures and family systems.
- Communicate with the Supervisor regarding any areas of concern regarding the development of children.
- Monitor indoor and outdoor environment, including play equipment and toys, and report any hazards to the Supervisor.
- Ensure that policies, procedures and requirements regulated by Toronto Public Health and the Ministry of Education are adhered to.
- Ensure that classrooms are appealing to the eye and demonstrate the happenings in the class and will change materials in the class to demonstrate the philosophy of Learn Through Play.
- Assist children in washing, dressing, toileting, diapering, eating, etc. to develop self-help skills.
- Administer medication as authorized by physicians and maintain records of all medications administered.
- Have a constant awareness of children’s allergies and special health conditions and Anaphylaxis and Emergency Medical Plans.
- Ensure the children's health, safety and well-being needs are met.
- Perform additional administrative duties including maintenance of children’s records - emergency forms, illness and incident reports, daily attendance, communication books, daily children’s logs for meals/diapering/naps.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be able to legally work in Canada in a child care setting.
- Proficient in the English language with speaking, reading and writing.
- Must have a clear vulnerable sector screening (done within 6 months of start date with us).
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C recognized by the Canadian Red Cross, to be renewed every 3 years.
- Able to provide references.
- Up-to-date medical including Tuberculosis test and immunization history.
Main Competencies:
- Previous experience with children ages 18 months-12 years
- Experience working with children with varied abilities
- Early Childhood Assistant certificate of completion is an asset
- Knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act and licensing regulations.
- Familiarity with Learn Through Play/Elect learning models.
- Will adhere to the “Privacy Act” and not relay any personal information of families to others and understands the importance of centre issues remaining within the privacy of the centre.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively and professionally.
- Able to adapt to change and be flexible.
- Possess effective time management, organization and problem-solving skills; and be able to multitask.

- Starting salary $17.20/hour, plus Provincial Wage Enhancement Grant when eligible.
