Aerobic Class in Pool

This low-impact class is performed in the shallow or deep end of our saltwater pool, and is designed to improve joint stability, coordination, heart health, and strength. The class will incorporate cardio and strength, using water dumbbells, noodles and flotation belts.

Prepare for a great cardiovascular workout!   Pedal through hill climbs, sprints, and many other challenging drills and exercises on a stationary bike.  Remember to bring a towel and water bottle!

Zumba will make your workout feel like a dance party!  Sweat and sway while you perform simple choreography to great Latin music.  Zumba dance moves are easy to follow and may include salsa, meringue, hip-hop, calypso, cubia, quebradita, country, rock, flamenco, and belly dancing.  Have fun and get fit at the same time!

A dynamic, full-body workout that simultaneously combines stretching and strengthening, while engaging all 650 muscles.  Through standing and floor work, this class will increase your flexibility and mobility for a healthy, toned, and pain-free body.

The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root yuj, meaning “to unite.”  The practice aims to create a union between your body, mind and spirit. Movements in a Yoga class will help you to develop strength, flexibility, and mental concentration. Yoga classes at the JCC are designed for mixed-level participants.

This is a Total Body Workout that may use free weights, bands, and more. Depending on the class, you'll target all your muscles, including the hips, glutes, thighs, chest, back, shoulders, and arms. The workout is full of tried-and-true classics, from squats and lunges to push-ups and more!

Pilates is a beginner-friendly method of exercise that will help to develop your strength, flexibility, and endurance. Pilates emphasizes the development of core strength, muscular balance, and proper body alignment.  This class is suitable for all levels.   

Upward Facing Dog

Hatha focuses on combining breath and movement during traditional sun salutations.  The movements in a Yoga class will help you to develop strength, flexibility, and mental concentration, creating a calmer mind and healthier body.  Classes also include elements of mindfulness, relaxation, and breath awareness.   Yoga classes at the JCC are designed for mixed-level participants.

Yoga Pilates Fusion is a wonderful blend of both disciplines in one great class.  It harnesses the flowing meditative and creative sequences of Yoga with the core strengthening exercises of Pilates.  You will leave your mat feeling strong, focused and refreshed.

Three different workouts in one!  

This class offers 20 minutes of cardio, 20 minutes of strength training and 20 minutes of core and stretching.  It's a terrific workout and is suitable for all levels.

Pilates is a method of exercise that will help to develop your strength, flexibility, and endurance.  Pilates emphasizes the development of core strength, muscular balance, and proper body alignment.  This class is suitable for all levels.  This class has a warm-up and heating section, strengthening exercises, and finishes with relaxation. It’s perfect if you experience low energy, stress, tension or just want to improve strength and mobility.

Fundamental Fitness

A favourite of many of our members, this class offers the best of three worlds: classes begin with beginner-level, easy to follow cardio, followed by 15 minutes of strength training and 15 minutes of core strengthening and stretching.  A fantastic class for beginner exercisers!

This workout utilizes the step equipment in our studio to give you simple cardio bursts alongside simple and fun choreography!  The class is interspersed with intervals of strength training as well.

Barre fitness is a hybrid workout class that is inspired by elements of ballet, Pilates, dance and strength training.   It focuses on high reps and low-range, low-impact movements.  Most classes will incorporate a ballet barre and will make use of exercise equipment such as bands and small balls.  These classes will also incorporate classic dance moves such as plies, alongside static stretches.

Fit For Life classes are focused on functional fitness exercises that are safe for the active ageing population.  This class is geared to individuals with reduced mobility. Participants will train their cardio respiratory system, improve their range of motion, and increase their muscular strength, endurance, and balance. This class can be done standing or in a chair.

Strong Nation combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves in a high-intensity, music-driven class.  In a Strong Nation class, you can expect HIIT style movements such as skaters, jumping jacks, kickboxing drills and push-ups.  This class also incorporates core work and a gentle stretch at the end of class, to reward you for all your hard work.

This is a foundational yoga class that is suitable for all levels of mobility. Options and props will be provided including

weights, blocks and straps. Adaptations will be offered.

Bars + Plates

Bars and Plates is a high-rep strength training workout that targets all of your major muscle groups. This fun, choreographed, music-driven workout is designed to burn calories, build strength and muscular endurance, and improve bone health.

Stretching Class

This class will include stretches for the entire body.  Stretch classes feature classical dynamic, static, and/or yoga postures to stretch and strengthen the body, calm your mind, and reduce your risk of injury.

If you are in an exercise rut, give Bootcamp a try!  A boot camp workout is basically a type of high-intensity interval training (HIIT), which alternates bursts of intense activity with intervals of lighter activity. You can expect a mixture of strength exercises and cardiovascular exercises to work the heart and lungs, and to give the entire body a workout.

20 Minute Workout

Short on time?  Try a 20 Minute Workout class.  Each workout is different, giving you a variety of options to try live via Zoom or on our On Demand platform.  You can expect workouts incorporating hi-low, weight training, pilates, yoga, and stretch!

Indoor Zumba Class

Groove is an interactive and creative group dance experience. With great music, your facilitator will unite everyone in a simple movement or rhythm but you get to dance it your own unique way. 

Kick Boxing

Cardio Kick is a high-energy, music-driven workout that features cardio kickboxing combinations, sports drills, and dancing in a party atmosphere. Prepare yourself for a fun, exciting, and powerful interval-based workout for all levels.

Restorative Pilates is a class specifically designed to improve balance and flexibility, as well as assist in rehabilitation from injury or surgery. If you have back pain, a knee injury, hip replacement, or shoulder impingement, this is the class for you. 

Yoga Pose Looking Up

Power Yoga is a flowing Ashtanga yoga practice with a focus on building strength and stamina.  Calm your mind while simultaneously building muscle and increasing flexibility!  Intermediate-level fitness or previous experience in yoga classes is recommended for Power Yoga classes.

Get the best of two formats with Stretch and Strength!  This class will first target all of your muscles with a strength training workout and then move into a relaxing stretch workout that will rebalance your body, reduce your risk of injury, and leave you feeling relaxed.
